Gandhara Civilization Tour

While Indus Valley civilizations (Harappa 7th millennium BC and Moejodaro 4th millennium BC) are the landmarks of human civilizations in the southern plains of Pakistan, the Gandhara Civilization (500 BC to 10th Century AD), an era devoted mainly to Buddhism, has been the center of spiritual influence as well as art and architectures.
Driving on the Karakoram Highway, we can recapitulate the history by visiting petroglyphs along the Indus, Gilgit, and Hunza Rivers. These carvings bear not only the “guest books” of passing by traders and pilgrims but also depict the natural beliefs of fairy worshippers.”

Indus Civilization Tour

Kalash Festival

The Kalash has three colorful festivals. Kalash, these festivals are the culminations of religious life, and, like the big funerals, they unite the people.CHILMJUSHT (14th -15) CHILIMJUSHI THE SPRING FESTIVAL, in the middle of May, lasts for four days. The spring festival honors the fairies and safeguards the goats and shepherds before they go to the pastures. Before the festival, the women and girls gather from all over the valley and decorate their houses. Inside the houses, local wine and milk products are shared. The women then sprinkle milk on Goddess” Jestak,” the protector of their children and home. The festival begins at Rumbur, where the Shaman (soothsayer) and tribal chiefs lead a procession to the” Malosh altar” high above Grum to sacrifice goats to the Gods. Later, the festival moved to Bumboret and ended up at Birir a few days later. Every religious ceremony is accompanied by dancing and a rhythmical chant to the beat of the drum. The women wearing traditional black robes, ornate cowries, shelled headdresses, and adorned with colored necklaces dance in a circle. Then the men join in: it may be a man and woman or a man in the middle with women on each side, lovers being free to intermingle. One hand is held around the waist of the partner and the other around the shoulders. Tribal chiefs in colorful dresses narrate stories of bygone days and events.

Departure for Chitral via Lawari Tunnel (in case the Tunnel close then via Lawari Pass) (3118m) our today’s journey will be 10 hours drive, today we will cross some small cites and piston villages arrive in Chitral and transfer to the hotel
 

03: Chitral to Bumburat (Kalash)

Departure for Kalash valley, the 3 hours drive to Kalash village be through the most interesting narrow jeep trek, arrive and transfer to the hotel
 

Day 04 to 07: Bumburat (Kalash)

Explore the beautiful Kalash valley Bumburat, Rembur and enjoy the festival in Bumburat village in Kalash valley
 

08: Kalash to Chitral

After breakfast, drive back to Chitral. After lunch, we will visit the local bazaar and Shahi mosque, Built by the ul-Mulks near the end of the 19th century. Its pinkish walls and white onion dome make it one of north Pakistan’s most distinctive mosques, particularly as its minarets frame Tirich Mir in the far distance. It’s usually fine to visit, but ask permission before entering and avoid Friday prayers. Arrive and transfer to the hotel
 

09: Chitral to Islamabad

After breakfast, drive back to Islamabad, arrive, and transfer to the hotel
 

10: Islamabad

After breakfast, we visit Taxila city, which is 35 km, 20 minutes drive from Islamabad, moving towards the north-west where the civilization of Gandhara exists. While traveling on GT road, there is Taxila Museum after crossing Margalla Hills, just turning left from Taxila bypass at Khanpur Lake road, about 4 km away. It’s a site museum where the collections of Gandhara art are placed, which is about 600 BC to 700 BC. Two beautiful & well-maintained gardens are also attached to the museum’s building for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural environment and weather.
 

11: Islamabad to Flight out

Explore the twin cities, and in the evening, transfer to the airport for a flight back home.

Polo Festivals

Historically, the game goes back many centuries when the local Mehtars, Mirs, and Rajas were patrons of polo, and it was played not only for pleasure but also for celebratory and commemorative occasions. The Mehtar of Chitral would send a message to his relatives, the Rajas of Ghizar, Yasin, and Ishkuman, and word would travel far down the valleys to Punial Gilgit and Chilas, where the challenge would be taken up. But despite being dubbed ‘the game of kings,’ in Gilgit-Baltistan, it is not an elitist sport, often played in the village square on sorry nags or even on bicycles. ” It is the local obsession along with music & dancing on Shandur. In recent years, the event has become a legend – the dramatic landscape, the local color, and the presence of international celebrities. Still, above all, the passion with which the age-old rivals play the game makes the Shandur Polo Festival an unforgettable occasion. A sizeable tented village and bazaar is set up with thousands of people camping out.
