Planning a Pakistan Trip from Japan
What travellers based in Japan should check before joining one of our tours, treks or expeditions in Pakistan.
Official travel advice to read first
Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs publishes overseas safety information for Pakistan on its Overseas Safety website (anzen.mofa.go.jp), with risk levels by region.
For short trips, the ministry's Tabireg service sends safety information to registered travellers by email.
Time difference
Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 and Japan Standard Time is UTC+9, and neither observes daylight saving, so Pakistan is 4 hours behind Japan all year.
Visas and Pakistan's mission
Pakistan's visas are applied for online through the Pakistan Online Visa System run by NADRA (visa.nadra.gov.pk). Which visa category applies to Japanese passport holders, and the current fee and processing time, can change, so check the portal and the Embassy of Pakistan in Tokyo before you book flights.
Planning from Japan
Our programmes are described in English. Pakistan's cherry blossom tour runs in mid to late March in our calendar, and the Gandhara heritage tour visits the Buddhist sites of Taxila, Swat and Takht-i-Bahi.
Where our trips start
Almost every programme starts and ends at Islamabad International Airport, so that is the airport to plan your flights around from Japan. Two exceptions: the Indus civilisation tour starts in Karachi, and the camel safari starts in Bahawalpur.
