Arrival and Departure Days on Our Itineraries

The first and last days of a trip are easy to overlook when you compare itineraries, but they decide how much slack you have for delays. This guide shows what they include.

What the itineraries say

  • K2 Base Camp Trek

    01: Arrival Islamabad

    Arrival at the airport and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay in Islamabad.

  • K2 Base Camp Trek

    11: Concordia to K2 Base Camp and back

    Full day excursion to K2 Base Camp (5,150m) with return to Concordia for overnight, as staying overnight at Base Camp is unsafe due to altitude.

  • K2 Base Camp Trek

    13-16: Return Trek to Askole

    Retrace the route via Urdukas, Paiju, and Jhola back to Askole. Overnight in tents each night.

  • K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La Trek

    01: Arrival in Islamabad

    Meet on arrival at Islamabad airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Islamabad.

  • K2 Base Camp & Gondogoro La Trek

    11: Day trip to K2 Base Camp

    A full day from Concordia to K2 Base Camp (5,150 m) and back. The group returns to Concordia rather than sleeping at base camp. Overnight in tents at Concordia.

  • Snow Lake Trek

    21: Departure

    Transfer to airport for departure flight.

  • Fairy Meadows Trek & Hunza Tour

    03: Chilas to Fairy Meadows

    After breakfast, we will departure for Fairy Meadows; we will transfer to the mountain jeep at Raikot bridge for further drive to Tatto village on the narrow Jeep track. Arrive in Tatto village and start the trek to Fairy Meadows. Arrive at Fairy Meadows in the afternoon. Evening to walk around, overnight stay in huts at Fairy Meadows.

  • Fairy Meadows Trek & Hunza Tour

    06 Fairy meadows to Karimabad Hunza

    After breakfast, trek back to Tatto village and drive to Karimabad Hunza. From there, we will board on jeeps up to Raikot Bridge (KKH) and onward travel with an air-conditioned coach to Karimabad upon Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in hotel at Karimabad

  • Fairy Meadows Trek & Hunza Tour

    08: Karimabad to Khunjerab Pass

    After breakfast, we will drive for a day excursion to Khunjerab Pass (5000m) en route. We stay short at Attaabad Lake for photography and continue our journey to Khunjerab Pass and drive back to Gulmit. On Arrival, Transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at Gulmit

  • Great Karakoram Traverse

    01: Islamabad

    Arrival at Islamabad Airport and transfer to hotel overnight stay in Islamabad.

Reading the first and last days

  • Arrival days usually include an airport transfer and, on many programmes, an Islamabad city tour.
  • A rest day in Islamabad near the end acts as a buffer if mountain flights or roads are delayed.
  • The last day is normally just the transfer to the airport, so plan your onward flight from that day.
