Planning a Pakistan Trip from Canada
What travellers based in Canada should check before joining one of our tours, treks or expeditions in Pakistan.
Official travel advice to read first
The Government of Canada publishes travel advice and advisories for Pakistan at travel.gc.ca, with regional risk levels. Read the advice for each region on your itinerary.
Canadians can sign up for the Registration of Canadians Abroad service to receive important notices and to be contacted in an emergency.
Time difference
Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 with no daylight saving. Pakistan is 10 hours ahead of Toronto and Montreal in winter (9 hours in summer) and 13 hours ahead of Vancouver in winter (12 hours in summer).
Visas and Pakistan's mission
Pakistan's visas are applied for online through the Pakistan Online Visa System run by NADRA (visa.nadra.gov.pk). Which visa category applies to Canadian passport holders, and the current fee and processing time, can change, so check the portal and the High Commission for Pakistan in Ottawa before you book flights.
Planning from Canada
Flights from Canada to Islamabad involve at least one connection and a large time change, so a spare day at each end is sensible. Our summer treks run while Canada is on summer holidays, and the cooler-month camel safari is a winter option.
Where our trips start
Almost every programme starts and ends at Islamabad International Airport, so that is the airport to plan your flights around from Canada. Two exceptions: the Indus civilisation tour starts in Karachi, and the camel safari starts in Bahawalpur.
