Karakoram, Himalaya and Hindu Kush: Pakistan's Three Ranges
Three of Asia's great ranges meet in northern Pakistan. Knowing which one a trip is in tells you a lot about its landscape and its season.
The three ranges
- Karakoram: K2 and the big glaciers of Baltistan and Hunza; most of our treks and all our expeditions.
- Himalaya: its western end around Nanga Parbat, with Fairy Meadows, the Mazeno Pass and the Deosai Plains.
- Hindu Kush: Chitral, the Kalash valleys and the country around the Shandur Pass.
